17th BRICS Summit 2025
The 17th BRICS Summit was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (6–7 July 2025) under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.”
- BRICS is a platform for political and economic coordination among Global South countries.
- The summit was chaired by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and attended by Narendra Modi and other leaders.
- BRICS currently has 11 members, including original members (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) and new members like Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, UAE, and Indonesia (Saudi Arabia yet to confirm).
