Counter-Drone System – Bhargavastra
In May 2025, ‘Bhargavastra’ counter-drone system was successfully tested at Gopalpur range in Odisha.
- Bhargavastra firing is an indigenous hard-kill system designed to neutralise drone swarms and individual drones.
- It has been developed by Solar Defense and Aerospace Limited under the Make in India initiative.
- The system operates in two layers, combining unguided micro rockets and guided micro-missiles for effective interception.
- Unguided micro rockets can neutralise drone swarms within a 20-metre radius up to 2.5 km range.
- Guided micro-missiles enable precision targeting against complex and high-value aerial threats.
- The system integrates radar, electro-optical, and radio-frequency sensors for real-time detection and tracking.
