ESCAPADE Mission (NASA)

  • In November 2025, NASA launched the ESCAPADE mission to study interaction between Mars’ magnetic field and solar wind.
  • ESCAPADE (Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers) consists of twin spacecraft designed for comparative space environment analysis.
    • It consists of two identical small spacecraft, commonly called Blue and Gold.
  • The mission will study how the solar wind interacts with Mars’ hybrid magnetosphere, formed by the combination of an induced magnetic field and crustal magnetic remnants.
  • It also supports future human exploration by assessing radiation and space weather conditions around Mars.
  • The spacecraft were launched aboard New Glenn rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
