Flight-Tests of Advanced VSHORADS System

In February 2025, Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully conducted three flight tests of VSHORADS.

  • The tests were carried out from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, Odisha against high-speed unmanned aerial targets.
  • Earlier, in October 2024, three successful flight tests of the system were conducted at Pokhran Field Firing Range, Rajasthan.
  • VSHORADS stands for “Very Short-Range Air Defence System” and is a man-portable air defence system (MANPADS).
  • It is a fourth-generation, technologically advanced and miniaturised missile system designed for short-range air defence.
