Forever Chemicals (PFAS)
- In May 2025, the 12th Conference of the Parties (COP-12) to the Stockholm Convention decided to list Long-Chain Perfluorocarboxylic Acids (LC-PFCAs) and their salts in Annex A (Elimination).
- On October 6, 2025, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a draft notification proposing a complete ban on PFAS in food contact and packaging materials.
- A landmark study released in January 2026 estimated that PFAS pollution could cost the European Union approximately €440 billion by 2050 in health and remediation expenses.
