Rani Velu Nachiyar
On 3rd January 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Rani Velu Nachiyar on her birth anniversary. She is remembered for her resistance against colonial rule and her role as an early freedom fighter.
Historical Leadership and Sivaganga Resistance
- Rani Velu Nachiyar was the first Indian queen to wage a successful war against the British East India Company.
