Sri Ganganagar and Byrnihat: India’s Most Polluted Cities
- In January 2025, an independent research organization, CREA (Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air), released a report titled “Tracing the Hazy Air, 2025.”
- The report assesses the implementation and progress of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) in reducing air pollution levels across India.
- According to the report, out of 253 Indian cities with 80% or higher PM10 data in 2024, a total of 206 cities exceeded the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for PM10, while 47 cities met the standards.
