Successful Test of Astra Missile

On July 11, 2025, a major success was achieved through the joint efforts of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF), when they successfully tested the ‘Astra’ Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air missile (BVRAAM) with an indigenous RF seeker off the coast of Odisha.

  • During this test, two launches were conducted, both of the indigenously radio-frequency seeker-equipped ‘Astra’ missile from Su-30 MKI aircraft.
  • The missiles struck high-speed unmanned aerial targets with great precision under every range, angle, and condition.
