Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme: Strengthening India’s Electronics Manufacturing

On 21st August 2026, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has notified the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS)

Key Objectives

  • Enhance India’s global competitiveness in mobile phone manufacturing.
  • Increase Domestic Value Addition (DVA) and localise key components.
  • Promote Indian-owned brands, intellectual property, design and research and development.
  • Generate employment and strengthen India’s participation in global value chains.

About the Scheme

Duration

  • Financial Year 2026-27 to 2030-31.

Two Target Segments

  • Target Segment 1 (TS1): Mobile Manufacturing
    • Incentives range from 2.25% to 5%.
    • Eligible manufacturers, including Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers, must be registered in India.
  • Target Segment 2 (TS2): Indian Brands
    • Provides a 5% incentive ....
