PASIPHAE Sky Survey Project
Recently, the Wide Area Linear Optical Polarimeter (WALOP) was in news. It is an instrument that will be used in Polar-Areas Stellar-Imaging in Polarisation High-Accuracy Experiment (PASIPHAE), an upcoming sky survey project. The instrument is in an advanced stage of development at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, India.
PASIPHAE Project
- Polar-Areas Stellar-Imaging in Polarisation High-Accuracy Experiment (PASIPHAE) is an international collaborative sky surveying project that has the objective of studying the polarisation in the light coming from millions of stars.
- The name is inspired from Pasiphae, the daughter of Greek Sun God Helios.
