VLT Captures Signs of Planet Birth
An international team of astronomers led by PSL University, France, analyzing observations made with the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope (VLT), has revealed the telltale signs of a star system being born.

- Though thousands of exoplanets have been discovered so far, not much is known about how they form. Astronomers know planets are born in dusty discs surrounding young stars as cold gas and dust clump together.
