Ethanol Blending
In the first four months of the ethanol supply year (ESY) 2020-21, ethanol blending reached 7.2 percent for the first time at the national level (ESY is 1st Dec to 30th Nov 2021).
States like Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra are blending 9.5-10% ethanol with gasoline to move closer to the 2022 objective. Previously, the National Policy on Biofuel 2018 set a target of attaining 20% ethanol blending with gasoline by 2030 and 5% bio-diesel blending with diesel by 2030.
