Rare Lapwing Sighted in India

On 18th February, 2024, a birdwatching expedition in Telangana led to a remarkable discovery near Warangal — a spur-winged lapwing, believed to be the first sighting of its kind in India.

  • The elusive wader bird, scientifically known as Vanellus spinosus, was observed near Bhattupalle village.
