  • Average rural electricity availability increased from 12.5 hours (2014) to 22.6 hours.
  • Urban electricity availability increased from 22.1 hours (2014) to 23.4 hours.

    • 1,739.09 Billion Units (BU) in 2023-24
    • 1,829.69 BU in 2024–25
    • Growth rate: 5.21%
  • Generation target for 2025-26: 2,000.4 BU

Renewable Energy Capacity

  • India ranks 4th globally in total installed renewable energy capacity (IRENA, 2025).
  • Installed solar capacity:
    • 3 GW (2014)
    • 140 GW (January 2026)
  • Non-fossil fuel capacity: Over 50% of total installed electricity capacity
  • Installed wind capacity (January 2026): 54.65 GW
