- Average rural electricity availability increased from 12.5 hours (2014) to 22.6 hours.
- Urban electricity availability increased from 22.1 hours (2014) to 23.4 hours.
- Total electricity generation:
- 1,739.09 Billion Units (BU) in 2023-24
- 1,829.69 BU in 2024–25
- Growth rate: 5.21%
- Generation target for 2025-26: 2,000.4 BU
Renewable Energy Capacity
- India ranks 4th globally in total installed renewable energy capacity (IRENA, 2025).
- Installed solar capacity:
- 3 GW (2014)
- 140 GW (January 2026)
- Non-fossil fuel capacity: Over 50% of total installed electricity capacity
- Installed wind capacity (January 2026): 54.65 GW
Government Renewable Initiatives
