Forts in Delhi
- According to historical details, it is said that Delhi consists of 7-11 cities.
- The earliest fort of Delhi is believed to be of the 11th century, which was built by Tomar ruler Anangpal at a place called Lalkot.
- Later, Prithviraj Chauhan expanded the fort by building a huge palace around it and this expanded city is known as 'Qila Rai Pithora'.
- 'Qila Rai Pithora' is the first of the 7 cities of Delhi. 'Badaun Gate' was described by Ibn Batuta as the main entrance to the city.
- Qila-e-Kohna, known as Purana Qila, was built in the 1530s.
