Global Annual-to-Decadal Climate Update

On 28th May 2026, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released the Global Annual-to-Decadal Climate Update, projecting that global temperatures will remain at or near record levels over the next five years.

Major Highlights

  • Global temperatures during 2026–2030 are projected to remain 1.3°C–1.9°C above pre-industrial (1850–1900) levels.
  • There is an 86% probability that at least one year between 2026 and 2030 will become the warmest year on record, surpassing 2024.
  • There is a 91% chance that at least one year will temporarily exceed the 1.5°C warming threshold.
