Global Climate Indicators Worsen Since Last IPCC Assessment

In June 2026, a new global study released at the Bonn Climate Conference (SB64) 2026 warned that all major climate indicators have deteriorated since the last assessment by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

  • All 11 key climate indicators assessed have worsened since the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (2021–2023).

Key Findings

  • Marine Heatwaves recorded the steepest increase, rising by 61.1%.
  • Earth’s Energy Imbalance increased by 41.8%, indicating faster accumulation of heat in the climate system.
  • Maximum Daily Temperature increased by 23.9%.
  • Human-Induced Warming rose by 15.9%, reaching 1.37°C above pre-industrial levels in 2025.
