India’s Asian Elephant Population Estimate (2021–25)
On 14th October 2025, the results of the Synchronous All India Elephant Estimation (SAIEE) 2021–25 were released. India’s Asian elephant population is estimated at 22,446, marking a decline from the 2017 estimate of 27,312.
- The latest count establishes a new baseline due to a revised methodology.
