Agricultural Credit Architecture
Agricultural credit architecture refers to the institutional framework and financial mechanisms that ensure timely, affordable, and adequate credit flow to farmers and allied sectors, supporting agricultural production, investment, and income stability in India.
Background
- Post-1969 nationalization, India adopted a "Multi-Agency Approach." This was followed by the establishment of RRBs (1975) and NABARD (1982).
- The Kisan Credit Card (1998) revolutionized short-term credit, and in 2019, it was extended to include Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.
