Dedicated Freight Corridors & Multimodal Transport Integration
Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) are high-speed, high-capacity railway tracks exclusively for goods movement, designed to decongest the existing passenger rail network. Under the PM Gati Shakti framework, these corridors serve as the backbone of a multimodal transport network, integrating with ports (Sagarmala) and Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) to reduce India’s logistics cost from double digits to the global benchmark of 8-9% of GDP.

- Power Sector: Thermal power plants benefiting from faster coal evacuation via the Eastern DFC (EDFC).
