Methane Emission
- According to India's third Biennial update Report, India's methane emissions were 409 million tone CO2 equivalent in the year 2016.
- Out of the total methane emissions, 73.96 percent was from the agriculture sector, 14.46 percent from the waste sector, 10.62 percent from the energy sector and 0.96 percent was from industrial processes and product use sector.
- Under the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, climate resilient practices including methane reduction practices in rice cultivation are included.
