India-ISA Agreement for Solar Projects in Indo-Pacific Countries
On 26th November 2024, India partnered with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to develop solar projects in Fiji, Comoros, Madagascar, and Seychelles, addressing energy challenges and climate goals.
- A Project Implementation Agreement (PIA) was signed between the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and ISA to execute solar energy initiatives in four Indo-Pacific countries.
- India had pledged $2 million to fund the solar projects, building on the Wilmington Declaration's commitment to advancing clean energy supply chains among Quad nations.
- The ISA will act as the Project Implementing Agency, offering programmatic assistance and technical expertise to the recipient countries with India’s financial backing.
