India to Join International Climate Action in Civil Aviation
Recently, it was announced by the Civil Aviation Ministry that India will begin participating in the International Civil Aviation Organisation's (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and the Long-Term Aspirational Goals (LTAG), starting from 2027.
- The objective of ICAO is to reach net zero emissions from international civil aviation by 2050. This goal involves implementing various measures, such as technological advancements, operational improvements, and the use of sustainable aviation fuels, to eliminate or offset carbon emissions from aviation activities.
