India’s Arctic Policy
On 17th March, 2022, India unveiled its Arctic Policy, titled 'India and the Arctic: Building a Partnership for Sustainable Development’.
Aim
- The policy aims to enhance India’s cooperation with the resource-rich and rapidly transforming region.
Six Pillars of the Policy
- Strengthening India’s scientific research and cooperation;
- Climate and environmental protection;
- Economic and human development;
- Transportation and connectivity;
- Governance and international cooperation; and
- National capacity building in the Arctic region.
