India-EU Trade and Technology Council
On 25th April, 2022, during the visit of the President of the European Commission, India and the European Union signed a deal to launch a joint Trade and Technology Council, a strategic mechanism to address the challenges of ensuring trusted technology and security in the wake of rapid geopolitical changes.
- For India, the decision to set up such a council will be the first with any of its partners.
- It assumes significance as the United States is the only other country that has a technical agreement with the EU similar to the one signed with India.
