New Archaeological Findings at Rakhigarhi
On 8th May, 2022, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Rakhigarhi village (Hisar, Haryana) uncovered significant evidence pointing towards the possibility of a meticulous and well-planned Harappan Civilisation settlement.
- In 2020 Budget, Finance Minister named Rakhigarhi as one of five ancient sites that the Indian government will develop as iconic archaeological attractions.
- Other four sites are – Hastinapur (UP), Dholavira (Gujarat), Shivsagar (Assam), and Aadichanallur (Tamil Nadu).
New Findings
- Excavations done on Mound No. 3, has revealed “an aristocratic settlement”.
- Latest round of excavations revealed the structure of some houses, lanes and drainage system.
- Pieces of copper and gold jewellery, terracotta toys, beads ....
