Life expectancy refers to the average number of years a person is expected to live based on statistical data, considering factors such as age, health, and environmental conditions within a population.
Life Expectancy in India
- As per the latest report titled Sample Registration System (SRS) based Abridged Life Tables 2015-19 published by the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, Government of India, the average life expectancy at birth has increased from 49.7 during 1970-75 to 69.7 during the year 2015-19 registering an increase of 20 years during this period.
