Mehrgarh Archeological Site

Recently, a new radiocarbon study using Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) has revised the age of farming settlement at Mehrgarh from 8000 BCE to 5200 BCE, updating our understanding of early agriculture in the Indian subcontinent.

  • Mehrgarh is a Neolithic archaeological site situated on the Kacchi Plain of Balochistan in Pakistan.

Location

  • It is located near the Bolan Pass, to the west of the Indus River and between the modern-day Pakistani cities of Quetta, Kalat and Sibi.
