Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project Bhoomi Pujan
On 18th January 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi Pujan of the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project, worth over ₹6,950 crore, at Kaliabor in Assam.
- The project involves four-laning of the Kaliabor-Numaligarh section of NH-715 and aims to improve connectivity in Upper Assam while protecting Kaziranga’s biodiversity.
- Kaziranga is not just a National Park but the soul of Assam and a priceless jewel of India’s biodiversity, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- The corridor will include a 35-km elevated wildlife corridor allowing free movement of animals such as rhinos, elephants and tigers beneath the highway.
