e-NAM (e- National Agriculture Market)
About:
- It is a pan-India electronic trading portal which networks the existing state Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) mandis to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities.
Impact:
- Information to farmers: e-NAM removes information asymmetry between buyers and sellers and promotes real time price discovery based on actual demand and supply.
- Transparency: It provides better price discovery through transparent auction process based on quality of produce along with timely online payment.
- Integration of APMCs: Already 585 wholesale-regulated APMC markets across 16 states have been integrated with the e-NAM platform.
