India State of Forests Report, 2019
- Forest survey of India (FSI) presents findings of its mapping and forest resources assessment activities at the national level, biennially, by publishing India State of Forest Report.
- ISFR 2019 is the 16th report in the series, the first being the report of 1987.
- In tune with the Government of India’s vision of Digital India, FSI’s assessment is largely based on digital data whether it is satellite data, vector boundaries of districts or data processing of field measurements.
Key Findings
- According to the 2019 report, the total forest cover of the country is 712,249 square kilometres (21.67 percent of India’s total geographical area) ....
