Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
- With the tagline "Swachh Indhan, Behtar Jeevan", Union Government launched a social welfare scheme "Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana" (PMUY) on 1st May 2016.
- The scheme will increase the usage of LPG and would help in reducing health disorders, air pollution and deforestation.
Salient Features
- Initially, PMUY envisaged a target of 5 crore LPG connections with an allocation of Rs. 8000 crores over a period of 3 years starting from FY 2016-17.This target was revised to 8 crore connections by 2020.
