India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline
On 18th March, 2023, the Prime Ministers of India and Bangladesh inaugurated the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline.
Key Points
- It is a cross-border pipeline that has the capacity to supply one million metric tonnes of diesel per year from Assam's Numaligarh refinery to northern parts of Bangladesh.
- The 131.57 km. pipeline runs from Siliguri in India to Parbatipur in Bangladesh, facilitating the transportation of petroleum products from India to Bangladesh.
- It is the second cross-border energy pipeline between India and its neighbours, and is expected to cut the time and cost of supplying fuel from India while bolstering energy connectivity between the two ....
