Indian Forest & Wood Certification Scheme
Recently, in a move towards fostering sustainable practices, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has introduced the Indian Forest & Wood Certification Scheme (IFWCS), a national initiative aimed at promoting responsible forest management and agroforestry.
- The scheme covers entities ranging from state forest departments to individual farmers and wood-based industries involved in agroforestry and farm forestry.
- By adhering to certified sustainable forest management and agroforestry practices, entities can benefit from market incentives.
