Delhi Ranked World’s Most Polluted Capital for the Sixth Year
On 11th March 2025, according to the 2024 World Air Quality Report released by Swiss air quality technology company IQAir, Delhi has been ranked as the world’s most polluted national capital for the sixth consecutive year.
- India in the Pollution Rankings: 13 of the world’s 20 most polluted cities are in India, with Byrnihat (Assam-Meghalaya border) ranked as the most polluted city globally.
- PM2.5 Levels Exceed Safe Limits: India’s annual average PM2.5 concentration was 50.6 µg/m³, while Delhi recorded 91.6 µg/m³, exceeding WHO’s recommended limit by more than 10 times.
