Early Childhood Care and Education
In April 2024, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) launched Aadharshila, a National Curriculum for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) for children aged three to six years.
Key Highlights
- ECCE in India covers the care and education of children from birth to eight years, including:
- 0-3 years: Early stimulation programs.
- 3-6 years: Early Childhood Education (ECE) (e.g., Anganwadis, balwadis, preschools).
- 6-8 years: Early primary education.
- India adopted the National ECCE Policy in 2013, while the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for Foundational Stage (NCF-FS) 2022 emphasize ECCE's importance.
