Food Waste Index Report 2024
The Food Waste Index Report 2024, released on March 27, 2024, highlights the urgent need for expanding and strengthening food waste tracking and monitoring systems.
- The report is published by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and WRAP (UK-based NGO).
- As per the findings, in 2022, 1.05 billion tonnes of food were wasted globally (132 kg per capita).
- 60% of food waste occurred at household levels, 28% in food services, and 12% in retail.
- Only four G-20 countries (Australia, Japan, UK, and USA) and the EU have adequate food waste tracking ....
