In October 2024, the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2024 was released by Concern Worldwide and Welt Hunger Hilfe, highlights alarming global hunger levels.
Key Findings
- The global GHI score is 18.3 (moderate), with 42 countries facing severe hunger.
- The report warns that Zero Hunger by 2030 is unattainable, with projections extending hunger eradication to 2160.
- Gender inequality, climate change, and hunger are interconnected, disproportionately impacting women and girls.
India’s Performance
- Ranked 105th out of 127 countries, classified as “serious”, with a GHI score of 27.3.
