India Reaches 100 GW Solar Capacity Milestone
India achieved 100.33 GW installed solar capacity by Jan 31, 2025. Solar capacity rose 3,450% from 2.82 GW (2014) to 100 GW (2025).
- Target: 500 GW non-fossil capacity by 2030.
Growth Highlights (2024)
- Record 24.5 GW solar added; 2.8x jump in utility-scale capacity.
- Rooftop solar grew by 53%, reaching 4.59 GW.
- Top States: Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, MP.
Key Scheme – PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana
- Launched in February 2024; target: 1 crore homes by March 2027.
