LignoSat: The World's First Wooden Satellite
On November 5, 2024, the world’s first wooden satellite, LignoSat, was launched into space. This mission is an early step in testing the potential use of timber in lunar and Mars exploration.
- Developed By: Kyoto University (Japan) in collaboration with Sumitomo Forestry.
- Launch: The satellite was flown to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard a SpaceX mission.
