Naval Anti-Ship Missile Short Range (NASM-SR)

In February 25, 2025, DRDO and the Indian Navy successfully tested the Naval Anti-Ship Missile –Short Range (NASM-SR) from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the Odisha coast.

  • It is an indigenous missile with Man-in-Loop capability, enabling in-flight retargeting via a two-way high-bandwidth datalink.
  • The missile achieved a direct hit on a small ship in sea-skimming mode at its maximum range.
  • It features an Indigenous Imaging Infra-Red Seeker for terminal guidance.
  • Launched in Bearing-only Lock-on After Launch (BOLOAL) mode, it initially locked on to a large target but was redirected mid-flight by the pilot to a smaller hidden target.
