PM E-Drive Scheme
In September 2024, the Ministry of Heavy Industries has launched the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme to accelerate EV adoption in India.
Building on Previous Initiatives
- FAME-I (2015) & FAME-II (2019): Promoted e-2Ws & e-3Ws.
- Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS-2024): Continued EV support.
Key Features of PM E-DRIVE (2024-26)
- Rs. 10,900 crore allocated to boost EV adoption & charging infrastructure.
- Targeted EV segments:
- e-2Ws & e-3Ws.
- e-Buses (under Rs. 2 crore) via OPEX/GCC model for State Transport Undertakings (STUs).
- Charging Infrastructure Expansion:
- 22,100 fast chargers for e-4Ws.
- 1,800 chargers for e-buses.
- 48,400 chargers for e-2Ws & e-3Ws.
