PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Achieves Historic Milestone
On 10th March 2025, the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), the world’s largest domestic rooftop solar initiative, achieved a historic milestone of 10 lakh homes powered by solar energy.
About PMSGMBY
- Launched on 13th February 2024 by Prime Minister to promote the adoption of rooftop solar panels in residential households across India.
- The scheme provides subsidies and easy financing options to make solar energy accessible and affordable.
- By reducing electricity costs, encouraging renewable energy usage, and supporting domestic manufacturing, the scheme aims to accelerate India's transition to clean energy while promoting energy self-reliance.
