Shilp Samagam Mela 2024
Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar (Social Justice and Empowerment) in November, 2024 inaugurated the Shilp Samagam Mela 2024 at Dilli Haat, New Delhi.
- Objective: The mela aims to empower marginalized artisans by providing them a platform to sell their crafts and products.
- It promotes economic inclusion and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Launch of ‘TULIP’ Initiative
- During the event, the minister also launched the ‘TULIP’ programme. This stands for Traditional Artisans’ Upliftment Livelihood Programme.
- It supports artisans from Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), sanitation workers, and persons with disabilities.
