Srinagar Named as ‘World Craft City’
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir, was designated a ‘World Craft City’ by the World Crafts Council (WCC) in June 2024.
- It became the fourth Indian city to receive this honor, after Jaipur, Malappuram, and Mysore.
- The recognition highlights Srinagar’s rich craftsmanship, including papier-mâché, walnut wood carving, Sozni embroidery, and Pashmina and Kani shawl weaving.
