TRISHNA Space Mission
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in collaboration with the French space agency CNES (Centre National d’Études Spatiales), has announced the TRISHNA Mission (Thermal Infrared Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural Resource Assessment) space mission.
Key Objectives
- Monitor land surface temperature with high resolution
- Assess vegetation stress, snowmelt, glaciers, and urban heat islands
- Detect volcanic and geothermal thermal anomalies
- Measure aerosol optical depth, cloud cover, and water vapor
- Payloads: TIR Payload (by CNES): 4-band thermal sensor for surface temperature & emissivity
- VNIR-SWIR Payload (by ISRO): 7-band sensor for surface reflectance & radiation budget
