100 Years of Kakori Train Robbery
In August 2025, the Government of India and the Uttar Pradesh administration organized "Kakori Shaurya Gatha" to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Kakori Train Action.
Institutional Framework and Revolutionary Action
- The Kakori Action was executed on August 9, 1925, by the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) members.
- It targeted a British treasury train to fund revolutionary activities against the colonial administration in India.
- The HRA was established in 1924 in Kanpur with the goal of achieving an independent republic.
- Founding members included Sachindra Nath Sanyal, Narendra Mohan Sen, and Pratul Ganguly to organize armed resistance.
