150 Years of Arya Samaj
On October 31st 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the International Arya Mahasammelan in New Delhi, launching a year-long commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Arya Samaj (founded April 10, 1875).
Reformist Ideology and Literature
- Swami Dayanand Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj in 1875 to reform Hindu society through Vedic principles.
- His seminal work ‘Satyarth Prakash’ emphasizes the supreme authority of the four Vedas and promotes monotheism.
- The organization rejected idol worship, priestly dominance, and the rigid caste system while advocating for social equality.
- The Shuddhi movement was initiated to facilitate the reconversion of Hindus who had previously embraced other religions.
