COP16 of UNCCD
The 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification was concluded on December 13, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
- This conference was held for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, marking a significant geographical milestone for the convention.

- Advancing the Global Drought Framework: Participating nations made significant progress towards establishing a Global Drought Framework.
- The framework is expected to be finalised at COP17, which is scheduled to be held in Mongolia in 2026.
