High-RRR Niobium
The Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC) has successfully developed indigenous technology to produce High Residual Resistivity Ratio (RRR) Niobium ingots and sheets in October 2025.
- High RRR Niobium is a critical material for advanced accelerator programs in nuclear energy, materials research, and other high-technology applications.
- Residual Resistivity Ratio (RRR) is defined as the ratio of electrical resistivity at room temperature to that near absolute zero.
- A high RRR value (typically >250–300) indicates extremely high purity and low impurity scattering, which is essential for efficient superconductivity.
- NFC plans to scale up production, strengthening India’s self-reliance in superconducting accelerator technology.
- For expanding the Pressurized Heavy Water ....
